The state of Oregon began its nationwide birth recording in the year 1903. While the Oregon State Archives located in Salem provides important records of the fifteen out of thirty-six counties, the rest of the state’s records can be provided by the Vital Records Bureau.
The statewide registration of births in Pennsylvania happened in January 1906. However, the repositories of the said documents are not located in one place only.
North Carolina birth certificates have been compiled ever since March of 1913. The state was made compliant provide stored birth records by the year 1920.
Like most states in America, Indiana started to assemble birth and death records on a local county level. Starting in 1882, vital records were collated by local health officials.
It is as important as it is quite a challenge to obtain your birth and death records in Kentucky. The state of Kentucky first enacted the State-wide vital records registration in 1852. However compliance was minimal and the legislation lasted only 10 years. After a period of erratic maintenance from 1872-1910, birth and death registrations resumed its full function on January 1, 1911.
In 1908, vital records registration was mandated in the state of Ohio. Though two prior legislative efforts were enacted, they were eventually made unsuccessful. The Probate Clerk in the local county can be checked for such early records.
As early as 1636 to 1850, 21 volumes of early vital stats were made available in the James N. Arnold’s Vital Record of Rhode Island. The statewide recording officially started in 1853, when copies of vital records are required to be sent to the Rhode Island Division of Vital Statistics.
New Mexico pertinent records, such as birth certificates, have been available ever since the year 1920. There were evidences though, that such vital papers can date back as early as 1889.
Although the statewide recording of births for the state of Oklahoma started in October 1908, it took them another twenty years for people to comply. By the year 1917, everybody was mandated to register birth events, though it again took another 10 years before 90 per cent of the residents complied with the statewide recording.
In 1893, a North Dakota state law was passed to make it mandatory to file significant documents with the township clerks. Though it was retracted in 1895, it was enacted again by the year 1899.
